“A Viking Thing” is still happening, but not at Moor’s Castle

So here’s a weird bit of news. Not bad. Not good. Somewhere in between.

At the beginning of the month we spotted a fantastic get-together called “A Viking Thing”, an event celebrating all things Nordic, ranging from weapons forging, to quizzes, to themed marketing, to traditional Viking games. The festival was supposed to take place at Moor’s Castle this March, but now it’s in search of a new venue.

Meryl Rosenberg co-founder of Alter Egos events says that the new management of Moor’s Castle has made the festival’s status untenable at its planned venue.

“The terms and conditions under the new management have made it impossible to host A Viking Thing, and any other event we would plan, at this venue,” says Rosenberg.

“We would like our fans to know that we have tried our best to find an equitable solution to this problem, but the new management at Moor’s Castle was not open to any negotiations.”

That having been said, Rosenberg says that A Viking Thing is still going ahead. Alter Egos is now in talks with several other venues with a view to having the festival hosted elsewhere. Fans are urged to keep an eye on the festival’s Facebook page for updates. Rosenberg says that as soon as A Viking Thing has a new home, the new venue will be posted.

“If we have to, we’ll host this in a field,” says Rosenberg. “It’s not about the venue, it’s about the people. We will make this happen!”

So, all you Viking fans, this festival is still happening. Like we said. Not great news, not bad news, somewhere in between. And get your helmets out!
