A look at the terrible PC port of Warhammer 40K: Fire Warrior

Today games based on the Warhammer 40K licence are known to be complete hit or miss affairs, and this was the same story back in 2003 when Fire Warrior was released.

If you, like us, were lucky enough to have not played this game, YouTube channel MandaloreGaming is here to bring us all up to speed.

This is one of our favourite channels for long form videogame content, which breaks down slightly older titles and all their jank.

It also shows you how to get these games running on new systems, and gives you more than enough information for you to decide if you want to give it a spin.

This video focuses on Warhammer 40K: Fire Warrior, especially its PC port which is plagued with problems.

It also gives us the most accurate overview of Warhammer 40K we’ve ever seen: “Hulk Hogan is in a cathedral, and he’s fighting the devil. Hogan is wearing about fifty trucks worth of metal. Also the cathedral is the size of Rhode Island… and in space”.

It’s interesting to note that this game’s biggest draw is its art direction which proves to be a loving homage to the 40K world and a joy to walk through, even when the rest of the game is lacking.

This is exactly the sentiment we shared when we reviewed Space Hulk: Deathwing – a much newer FPS set in the same universe.

Speaking of Games Workshop titles, we’re still hacking our way through Vermintide 2 and should have a review up soon. If you’re interested in how the PC version runs, it’s amazing. There have been a few crashes but it’s otherwise extremely smooth, even on older hardware.
