New Superhot game has a Japanese feel with different developers

In today’s confusing game news: there’s going to be a new Superhot game, but it’s not going to be a sequel and it’s not being developed by the same people who made the first one.

With the working title of “Superhot JP”, Tokyo developers GameTomo are promising you bullet dodging while bathing in a hot spring.

Instead of being a followup title, Superhot JP is set in the Superhot universe with an “alternate story campaign”, new levels and gameplay, as well as the Japan-inspired setting.

Right now there’s the promise of 15 – 18 levels and three to four endless levels which will be packaged as a standalone title and not a piece of DLC for the existing game.

There’s no word on price except one that will be “reasonable”, but it has been confirmed for both PlayStation 4 and PC. The release will happen in Japan first with the rest of the world to follow.

Fans of Superhot VR will be disappointed to know that this game has no virtual reality elements, at least not right now.

The landing page of this game is available on GameTomo’s site and acts like Q&A. The bottom of the page also offers the option to sign up for a newsletter to stay informed.

The one question it doesn’t answer is how or why this game came about. The official Superhot twitter account calls it a remix that will release later this year, while in the same tweet refers to it as a reboot.
