Rage 2 gets a weird announcement + gameplay trailer coming later today

After several leaks of its existence and many unofficial trailers, we finally have confirmation for Rage 2 with an announcement trailer.

Released yesterday, this video shows off a very different game to the previous installment that came out in 2010.

Many commenters have stated that it’s a bit cringey and too far on the try-hard scale.

They’ve also pointed out that the bright colours and general feel remind them of Sunset Overdrive. We can’t imagine Bethesda would want to ape that forgotten title, but we do see the similarities.

This first look is mostly real actors in costume and CGI, but the description states that we’ll be seeing a gameplay reveal later today. It suggests checking back to Bethesda’s official YouTube channel as time goes on.

The landing page for the game gives very little extra information. it does show key art for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so it’s likely that Switch owners will be left out at launch.

Given this publisher’s push to get games on Nintendo’s console after the original release, we are hopeful that it will make it there eventually.

You can also sign up for a newsletter on that page, and it gives the short description painting Rage 2 as “a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order” complete with FPS gameplay in an open world.
