Transformers refuses to die with a new Bumblebee trailer

Have you ever wondered where a Transformer’s head is when it’s still a vehicle?

Have you ever wanted to hear a throwaway line from Bernie Mac made ten times more dramatic?

Do you still, for some reason, care about the Transformers movies?

Well if any of those questions apply to you, you’ll be happy to know that we have a first look at the Bumblebee movie in a new teaser trailer.

Releasing at the end of this year, it’s rumoured that this will be the last of the current format of Transformers movies. Travis Knight will direct in place of Michael Bay, so we have that sliver of hope.

That being said, Knight doesn’t have the most impressive filmography (ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls and Kubo and the Two Strings).

The big name talent here is Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena. Cena being attached to it gives us hope that he’ll be the generic good guy lead, because anyone is better than Mark Wahlberg.

Bumblebee is supposed to be a prequel, taking place even before the first live action film in 2007. This probably means we won’t see any of the existing cast, but we highly doubt this movie will have the restraint not to have excessive cameos.

We hope you’re ready to see Sam Witwicky as a baby or some such other nonsense.

Our only real problem is that we didn’t get to see Bumblebee fighting Nazis in alternate history WWII. If that last line sounds bonkers, you probably didn’t watch (or fell asleep during) The Last Knight.

Actually, scratch that, the extremely dated meme right at the end of the trailer is a much bigger disappointment.
