DCC brings 2018 Dell XPS 13 notebook to South Africa

In the market for a new Windows 10-touting notebook? Well local technology distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC) have announced the arrival of the 2018 Dell XPS 13.

We’ve long been fans of the Dell flagship notebook as a viable alternative to the Apple MacBook Pro, and this latest iteration is already tracking well with reviewers internationally, bagging Editor’s Choice awards from PC Mag, Laptop and Digital Trends to date.

This year’s model of XPS 13 retains the slim design of its predecessors, with a 19.9 mm thin frame and 24 percent smaller body compared to the 2017 model, as well as 1.21 kg depending on the model configuration opted for.

Internally the 2018 Dell XPS 13 sports an 8th Gen Intel quad-core i5 or i7 processors. DCC notes that the setup on the new XPS 13 will have twice the rendering and encoding capabilities for applications like Adobe Premiere Pro 2018 CC (not included) to that of previous notebook models.

The now trademark 13.3″ InfinityEdge full-touch display is present as well, with a thinner 4 mm border around the screen. Should image quality be a significant consideration, DCC can also spec a 4K Ultra HD version of the InfinityEdge too.

Shifting back to aesthetics, DCC will only be distributing the platinum silver colour option of the Dell XPS 13, with a black carbon fibre palm rest.

Those looking for the rose gold option will have to look elsewhere, but considering this is a productivity-focused device, perhaps that colour option might be a bit too flashy for work.

An important aspect to note is the port configuration. There’s no USB-A or HDMI options, with a USB-C, two Thunderbolt 3, a microSD slot and 3.5 mm headphone jack present.

Last thing worth mentioning is that DCC will offer the 2018 Dell XPS 13 notebook along with a two-year carry-in warrantee, which can also be upgraded.
