Hacky hack hack – Australian teen accused of hacking Apple

A teenager from Melbourne, Australia is facing criminal charges after he allegedly hacked Apple.

The teen, who cannot be identified for legal reasons because of his age, allegedly accessed 90GB of secure files and customer accounts.

In a report by The Age, it’s alleged that the teen developed “computerised tunnels and online bypassing systems to hide his identity.” Upon discovering the intrusion Apple notified the FBI which in turn notified Australian authorities.

Upon raiding the teen’s family home a file labeled “hacky hack hack” was discovered on a PC linked to the Apple hack. The file contained hacking tools and instructions on how to use them.

“Two Apple laptops were seized and the serial numbers matched the serial numbers of the devices which accessed the internal systems,” a prosecutor for the case told The Age.

The teen is a fan of Apple and said to police that he dreamed of working for the Cupertino firm.

According to reports, the teen has garnered a degree of fame in the hacking community no doubt for managing to not only access the secure network but staying on it until Apple noticed his intrusion and blocked access.

An Apple spokesperson told Reuters that no personal data was compromised as a result of the hack.

We must say that this story reminds us an awful lot of another Australian hacker – Mendax or as most folks know him, Julian Assange.

During his time the hacker broke into the Pentagon, NASA, the US Navy and many more. Assange ultimately plead guilty to 25 charges and was ordered to pay reparations amounting to AUS$2 100.

The teen accused of hacking Apple has pleaded guilty and will return to court for sentencing next month.
