Enter the Gungeon physical edition & ammonomicon on its way

If you’re a fan of physical versions of indie games, fancy books, or roguelikes, here’s some exciting news from Enter the Gungeon.

Special Reserve Games will be creating a limited run bundle which includes a boxed copy of the PS4 version of the game, as well as a recreation of the ammonomicon.

If you’ve not played the game, the ammonomicon (aside from being a nod to the necronomicon), is a reference guide inside of the game. It acts as a bestiary for the game’s enemies as well as a full list of all the guns and items.

While the boxed game, together with its adorable, reversible artwork is great, the ammonomicon is what we’re really excited about here. Our only worry is that, over time, it will become outdated.

Since launching in 2016, Enter the Gungeon has received a slew of new updates. The latest batch of content – Advanced Gungeons & Draguns – is a full-blown expansion that added much to the already packed game.

The other worry is, of course, what if you only want to buy the game, or you don’t even own a PS4?

The tweet announcing the bundle has been updated with a few replies from Special Reserve Games that only slightly puts these worries to rest.

After this version of the game is out a Switch bundle will be coming, but the ammonomicon may be reduced in size to match the smaller Switch game box.

As for buying the book on its own, they state that it’s “probably” going to happen. After putting thousands of hours into this game across multiple machines (it’s available on PC, Switch, PS4 and Xbox One), we may end up buying this PS4 version regardless, and we’re sure we’re not alone.

There’s no price or release date as of yet, so we suggest dropping your email address into the official site so any updates land in your inbox.

Those who can’t wait and want Enter the Gungeon in your hands right now, all we can recommend is 3D printing something from the game.
