LG adds One and Fit models to flagship G7 lineup

We’re less than 24 hours away from the press conferences for IFA 2018 getting underway, but some manufacturers are already showcasing what they have in store for the Berlin-based expo.

One such manufacturer is LG, which has served up looks at two new additions to its G7 lineup – the G7 One and G7 Fit.

Both devices look fairly similar to the G7 ThinQ that LG launched earlier in the year, but offer a few differences in terms of operating systems and internal specifications.

So what makes them unique?

LG G7 One

The LG G7 One, as the name may hint, is sporting the Android One OS and is the South Korean phonemaker’s first device to do so.

For those unfamiliar with Android One, it’s a version of the operating system that does not feature any sort of third-party skin layered atop it, offering a distilled experience, which is often better in our opinion.

In terms of features the G7 One is not as powerful as the ThinQ model, and rather features the same sort of setup found on last year’s LG V30+.

To that end a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor is present, with 4GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage and a 6.1″ QHD+ display with screen notch.

LG G7 Fit

Moving onto the Fit, LG says it’s designed to sit between its flagship and mid-range devices, and looking at the specs sheet, that seems about right.

A Snapdragon 821 chipset is charged with the heavy lifting, along with 4GB RAM and the option of either 32GB or 64GB onboard storage.

It also has the same 6.1″ QHD+ screen as the G7 One, with the CPU and LG-skinned UI being the only real differences.

SA bound?

Despite detailing almost every aspect of these new devices, LG has not revealed the precise availability, nor the pricing for the G7 One and G7 Fit.

That information will arrive during IFA 2018 later this week, so it remains unclear if both phones will be brought to SA.

If we had to venture a guess, LG probably won’t bring both to SA, especially with a new V40 smartphone expected for IFA as well.

As such the LG V40 (unofficial name) will likely be the only new notable smartphone to come from LG to South Africa for the second half of 2018.
