Where South Africans can pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Note 9

Last night, the Barclays Center in New York played host to the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

The South Korean manufacturer revealed its latest device as the most advanced smartphone on the market. While some iPhone X fans will dispute that, the Note 9 was upped the screen size, battery and onboard storage compared to its predecessor, along with turning the S Pen into a remote control.

As such, there will likely be a bit of local interest in the Galaxy Note 9, despite touting an eye-watering R18 999 price tag for the 128GB model.

So where can you pre-order the Note 9 ahead of its 24th August launch date?

Scroll further down and see for yourself, as we’ve got the local carriers and retailers that have the device up for pre-order. These are limited to the 128GB version though, so those holding out for the 512GB option will have to wait a while longer.

Vodacom

Big red has the 128GB Galaxy Note 9 up for pre-order in all the launch colours – Blue, Copper and Black.

They’re also throwing in a welcome pack worth R2 500, which includes a wireless charging pad, HDMI adaptor cable for DeX and a tripod.

As for the contracts it’s available on, the Red Plan throws in a R20 voucher from Sorbet (valid for 12 months) and R500 off a Galaxy Note 9 original cover. Pre-order is also available on any Vodacom Top Up or Smart plan with the R500 off the Note 9 cover added.

MTN

Now for MTN, which too has the 128GB Note 9 available to pre-order in the launch colours.

This offer only lists the charging pad and tripod as added extras, so you’ll probably have to spring for the DeX supporting HDMI cable separately.

In terms of pricing, it’s R799 on a 24-month contract with the offer to pre-order lasting until 24th August.

Cell C

As for Cell C, it’s pre-order listing is fairly similar to that of Vodacom. All three colour options for the Note 9 are available with the same welcome pack added as well.

For existing Cell C customers, there’s an option to go with a new deal or upgrade your current package. The latter requires the contract having less than three months left in order to qualify for upgrades though.

Telkom

Moving onto the Telkom, their website only has the blue and black colour options listed.

There is, however, the same welcome pack included with pre-order, and Telkom has six different FreeMe contract options on offer, each featuring a different per month cost.

The FreeMe 1GB contract kicks things off at R799 p/m with it topping out at R1 799 p/m for the FreeMe Unlimited tier.

Takealot

How about Takealot?

They’ve got the three Note 9 colour options for pre-order with a price tag of R18 999. The offers are while stocks last with shipping said to happen on 24th August.

As for extras, Takealot also was the welcome pack, but only for those that pre-order between now and 23 August. There’s a R2 500 Takealot voucher added as well, and that must be used by 31st October.

Cellucity

Next is Cellucity, which is a good option if you want to pay for the Note 9 in full.

That said, no pricing info is listed on Cellucity’s pre-order page, but we’re expecting it to come in around R18 999 for the 128GB Galaxy Note 9.

All three colour options are available, along with the ability to pre-order it via a new contract or upgrading an existing one.

Dion Wired

Last is Dion Wired, which seemed to beat everyone to the punch in listing the Galaxy Note 9 on its site.

Their offer also includes all three colour options in the 128GB size, with it costing R18 999.

To sweeten the deal, Dion Wired are throwing in the welcome pack that other sites have, along with an in-store voucher for R1 000 and an additional voucher for R500 off any Samsung accessory.
