Autographs at Comic Con Africa – What you need to know

The inaugural Comic Con Africa takes place this weekend from 14th to 16th Septemeber at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit and International Convention Centre.

The confirmed guest list includes Travis Fimmel from Vikings, Anthony Mackie of Avengers fame and The Big Bang Theory’s Kevin Sussman. That’s not including the smorgasbord of local comic book artists and writers that have confirmed they will be attending.

Of course while being surrounded by comic book fans and geeks is fun many folks will be attending the event for one reason – to get autographs of their favourite celebs.

What folks might not know is that autographs at Comic Con come with a fee.

So how much do these autograph tickets cost?

As some of you might know, when purchasing your tickets through Computicket you would have been given the option to purchase autograph tickets as well.

Autographs from Kevin Sussman, Anthony Mackie and Travis Fimmel will cost R300 while the John Hancock of Yetide Badaki, Demore Barnes, and Ricky Whittle will set you back R250.

Be sure to check that you are buying an autograph session for the correct day that you’ll be attending.

All of the aforementioned guests will be at Comic Con Africa on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but it appears as if there are no autograph tickets available for Anthony Mackie on Sunday so take note of that.

Tickets for all autograph sessions can be found here.

Where and when are autograph sessions taking place?

Autograph sessions will take place in the Pit Lane outside the main building of the event at the appropriately named Autograph and Photo ops marquee. Ticket holders are advised to arrive at this location 15 minutes before the session.

As to when exactly autograph sessions will be held, we don’t know.

The organiser has told attendees to check the programme at the event for exact times of autograph sessions. This might mean that you end up spending more time than you anticipated at the event but is that really a bad thing?

There are panel discussions happening at Comic Con Africa which you can find details of over here but we’re not sure what attendance will cost.

The big thing to note is that you should be bringing extra cash with you to Comic Con Africa aside from what you hope to spend on comics, art, toys and the like. Your ticket grants you access to the expo but autograph and panel discussions will cost you extra.
