Pikachu & Eevee Edition Nintendo Switch coming this November

If you’ve been waiting for the new Pokémon games to come out before buying a Nintendo Switch, a recently announced special edition may push you over the edge.

The “Pikachu & Eevee Edition” of the console features two new colours of Joy-Cons together with similarly recoloured straps to go along with them. These are, of course, coloured yellow and brown to match Pikachu and Eevee respectively.

The back of the Switch, as you can see in the header image above, features black silhouettes of the two Pokémon together with Poké Balls and what looks to be blades of grass.

The front of the dock is the final change here again featuring the titular two with their placement and colour lining up with the new Joy-Cons.

If you want this Nintendo Switch you will need to buy it in a bundle which contains the console, one of the two games pre-installed, and the Poké Ball Plus controller.

Overseas these bundles will launch on the same day as the games – 16th November – and will cost $400 when bought in US stores (that’s $100 more than the US price for a regular console).

Considering the fact that the Poké Ball Plus is $50 and either game is $60, this bundle “saves” you $10.

We can’t find any South African details yet but you can expect it to be expensive. Given the fact that the previous bundle – the one for Mario Tennis – was so pricey, we’re estimating this version to go for R9 000 once it arrives.

That may seem high but we’re factoring in the rand’s recent drop, the higher US RRP, and the circulating rumours that the Nintendo Switch is going to increase in price locally soon.
