No evidence that Facebook attackers accessed any third party apps

Following news of a breach at Facebook last week, the social network has provided an updated to its users.

This week users grew concerned that apps which allow users to log in using a Facebook account such as Tinder and Spotify, may have been accessed in the breach.

Facebook has addressed the concerns of its users this afternoon.

“We have now analyzed our logs for all third-party apps installed or logged in during the attack we discovered last week. That investigation has so far found no evidence that the attackers accessed any apps using Facebook Login,” Facebook vice president of Product Management, Guy Rosen wrote.

The VP explains that any developer using the official Facebook Software Developer’s Kit (SDK) was protected during the access token reset that occurred last week.

As a result of the access token reset, 50 million users were logged out of their Facebook account. The social network went on to reset the access tokens of 40 million users who were subject to a “View As” look up in the last year as an extra precaution.

“We’re sorry that this attack happened — and we’ll continue to update people as we find out more,” Rosen concluded.
