Samsung South Africa delivers sanitary towels and tech to Phomolong Secondary High School

Samsung South Africa will today reaffirm its support for female learners and the Phomolong Secondary High School in Tembisa, Gauteng.

Samsung South Africa president and chief executive officer Sung Yoon will hand over 55 tablets and a Samsung Smart Board as part of a handover ceremony at the school.

“When we empower our female learners we inspire change that impacts families, communities and the country as a whole. Through technology, we can enhance their capacity to learn and spark the imagination of our future leaders and innovators,” Yoon said in a statement to the press.

In addition Samsung South Africa will be giving the school sanitary towels. The firm says that supplying the school with sanitary towels will encourage girls to stay in school. Often girls who cannot afford sanitary towels or the like don’t attend school when their period arrives. Giving these learners access to these products is a great way to address this issue.

This is not the first time Samsung South Africa has invested in Phomolong Secondary High School. The firm has already helped build a solar-powered classroom and donated elearning devices and other equipment to the school.

“Samsung is committed to creating learning environments that reflect the world we live in. We believe Africa can lead the world with ground-breaking technologies and visionary thinking. Schools like Phomolong are filled with minds that have the potential to lead the technological revolution,” Yoon concluded.
