Microsoft SA launches new programme for tech startups – Head Start

Earlier this week Microsoft South Africa launched its Head Start end-to-end tech startups programme, which coincides with Global Entrepreneurship Week (12th to 18th November).

This programme aims to  boost tech startups by giving them open access to a wide range of skills development resources, coaches and mentors, along with a fully fledged customer network, and the platform on which to build their products and services.

The right partner

With the Microsoft Partner Network, tech startups will become part of the global community, according to the company. This will enable them to have relationships, insights, tools, resources and programs needed for their customers and growth, as well as improve their knowledge and boost their organisations trajectory, says the firm.

“Through Head Start, Microsoft South Africa, tech startup businesses  can grow by opening the right doors at every stage of the journey, with over ten high level partners involved in the Head Start the proposition is hard to resist,” notes Lionel Moyal, commercial partners lead at Microsoft South Africa in an official press statement.

What’s on offer?

Candidates have access to coaches, training and mentors with over 50 of Microsoft South African staff volunteering to mentor. Candidates will also be able to schedule time meeting with various business experts from multiple fields across the company.

They will be offered one-on-one expert advice and internationally recognised qualifications and certificates, explains Microsoft SA.

This programme offers different stages of mentoring advice on:

  • Technology – App development, data and AI, DevOps, cloud platform, security, business apps, the modern workplace.
  • Business – Marketing, HR, finance, business development.
  • Legal – GDPR, security, compliance.

“As a company our mission is to empower every person and organisation on the planet to achieve more, we get how critical entrepreneurship is, especially in the South African context where job creation is vital if we are to improve our economy,” concluded Moyal.
