All the winners from the IITPSA President’s Awards 2018

The Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) held its annual President’s Awards at an event in Johannesburg on Tuesday evening.

The attendees were a mish-mash of the local ICT sector and the excitement preceding the awards ceremony was palpable.

The President’s Awards honour individuals, projects and organisations that promote excellence in their respective fields each year.

The winners are selected by a panel of judges as well as the IITPSA president, Ulandi Exner.

This year’s judges included:

  • Adrian Schofield – Vice chairman at IFIP IP3
  • Adrian van Eeden – CIO at the Gordon Institute of Business Science
  • Ahmed Ismael – Founder of Siyafunda community technology centre
  • Professor Barry Dwolatzky – Emeritus Professor at WITS
  • Moira de Roche – Chair of the IFIP IP3
  • Neville Willemse – Senior managing partner at Gartner South Africa
  • Ranka Jovanovic – Editorial director at ITWeb
  • Tshifhiwa Ramuthaga – CIO at Barloworld

Speaking at the awards ceremony last night, IITPSA president, Ulandi Exner described how uplifting the process of selecting the winners for the awards is.

“It has been another tough year. VAT increased, fuel increased and we just heard that the interest rate was increasing by 25 basis points. Normally I would feel quite negative and tired by this time of year but the awards process started and interviewing the finalists gave me new energy. I was inspired and energised by their stories. Many of the finalists were surprised to learn they had been nominated which shows that they aren’t doing what they are doing for an award but because they want to do it,” said Exner.

These words were mirrored by all the winners who were both surprised and humbled to have won.

The winners in each category are listed below and you can find all the finalists here.
