Comic Con Africa 2019 confirmed for 21-24 September next year

It’s been a few weeks since the dust settled for the inaugural Comic Con Africa, and organisers have already turned their attention to next year’s event, announcing dates and a venue change for Comic Con Africa 2019.

Reed Exhibitions Africa and ReedPOP have confirmed that the second Comic Con Africa is scheduled to happen from 21st to 24th September next year, with the new venue being the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.

The event will now be taking place over four days compared to last year’s three, including Heritage Day on the 24th. Comic Con’s organisers say the extra day has been added due to the success of this year’s edition, as tickets for the Saturday and Sunday sold out fairly quickly.

“We exceeded our own expectations in 2018 and you are going to see bigger and better in 2019. We have listened to our fans first which means we needed to find a venue that is bigger, with more parking, more shade, easy access and Gallagher Convention Centre fits this bill perfectly,” adds Carol Weaving, MD of Reed Exhibitions Africa.

Weaving is also promising more in the form of pop culture, movies, comic books, esports and celebrities.

With a few high-profile cancellations regarding the latter, we’re hoping that Comic Con Africa 2019 will see the star attractions come through this time.

Ticket pricing is unknown for now, but are said to go live towards the end of November. When announced we’ll be sure to share the details.
