You’ll be able to Ape Out on PC and Nintendo Switch come February 2019

Back in March of last year we learned about a new game being published by Devolver Digital in Ape Out.

The game had the unique gimmick of the reveal trailer being playable through a free demo.

In action Ape Out feels like a Hotline Miami title focused more on melee and music as each of your actions usually triggers a musical cue that adds to the soundtrack.

Something we get to see a lot more of in the new announcement trailer (embedded below) is the ability to grab certain enemies and use them both as a shield and as a means to increase your range by using their weapons.

We also see some new levels located in high buildings where enemies can be taken out by throwing them onto the streets below. If it wasn’t for the minimalist art style, it would all be rather brutal.

That art is attached to arguably the most recognisable person on the three-man team: Bennett Foddy. Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy put this indie dev on the map, and he’s joined by Gabe Cuzzillo handling the other aspects of development here, and Matt Boch for music and sound.

When this game announced it was only on the PC, but now we know it will also be available on the Nintendo Switch when 7th February 2019 rolls around.

The only bad news here is that it appears that the playable trailer is no longer available for download. The only reason we can think of as to why it was removed is that maybe that demo is no longer a good representation of the game after more than a year of additional development.

Hopefully the next trailer that is released of the game comes with a demo.
