Play Override: Mech City Brawl for free this weekend

In the world of fighting games Override: Mech City Brawl was a new entry that set itself apart both by being a 3D fighter and featuring skyscraper-scale mechs, and now you can play it for free.

From today (depending on where you live) a free weekend for the game will kick off allowing you to access both the single and multiplayer portions of the game.

While fighting games thrive on online content, there is some interesting stuff in the package here. A singleplayer campaign is on offer which sees the mechs fighting off a giant alien invasion, and there’s a bunch of co-op modes on offer.

When the game was initially revealed the big feature we were looking forward to existed in this co-op space, with each player controlling one limb of the mech much like Voltron.

If that at all sounds interesting to you, make sure you visit the online stores on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 or Xbox One to play this weekend.

The game should be shown as free to download from 10:00 PST 17th January.

While playing it yourself is the best way to judge the game and determine if you’d like to buy it, we also have a review which will dig a bit deeper than the limited time available in the free weekend.

As a bit of a spoiler there this game did leave us a bit disappointed with underdeveloped sections and lacklustre replayability. That being said it is still being worked on by the devs and you may have a better experience now than we did shortly after launch.
