Microsoft SA launches Make Your Wish initiative to bring AI ideas to life

Microsoft has launched a new campaign in South Africa – Make Your Wish.

This initiative is designed for individuals and organisations alike across the country to share their ideas for how artificial intelligence (AI) can bring about changes in the world.

“Make Your Wish will act as a platform to bring ideas and imaginations together from bright minds on implementing Artificial Intelligence and how it could help improve lives – and empower people and organizations to achieve more,” reads a press release shared by Microsoft South Africa.

“By simply making a wish, people with ideas that can be enabled through AI technology can stand a real opportunity to not only be heard, but to bring real world impact,” it continues.

The Make Your Wish process involves three key steps.

First those interested in entering this initiative need to submit their ideas, where an editorial team from Microsoft SA will evaluate its merits. If selected, it will then be placed on a Wish List. This evaluation process will happen in the first quarter of 2019, according to the local firm.

From there it’s up to those whose idea was selected to get people to vote for it, by heading to a web page and clicking the vote button.

Finally a panel of industry experts will select the most viable ideas, and then a group of “Wish Fulfillers” as Microsoft terms them will try to bring the idea to fruition.

There’s no precise deadline mentioned on when these wishes will be implemented, but seeing as this is a good cause, those who have any worthwhile ideas that centres around AI should certainly give it a try.
