Next iPhone could have three rear cameras and USB Type-C port

When it comes to iPhone rumours, you can set your clock to them at this point, with everyone always keen to know what Apple is cooking up for its latest piece of mobile hardware.

This time round it’s Bloomberg doing the reporting, with the publication noting some of the elements that this year’s upcoming iPhone may be sporting.

More specifically it appears as if Apple will adopting the approach of its Android counterparts, with a trio of rear cameras and a USB Type-C port touted for the next iteration of iPhone.

The former is not all that surprising, as dual lens camera setups are fairly commonplace in the industry today. Making the jump to three makes sense for Apple, as its rivals like Samsung and Huawei have already done so.

As for what that third lens would cater to, Bloomberg’s sources say it could have some sort of AI functionality to it, and be capable of “repairing” photos or videos where a subject matter may not be properly framed in the shot.

While the three rear camera rumour is easy to see coming to fruition, the USB Type-C one is a little less so. Especially as Apple has stuck with its Lighting port for all these years.

That said, the firm did embrace USB Type-C for its MacBook lineup, so doing so on the iPhone isn’t that much of a stretch. At this stage, Bloomberg says Apple is only testing out the new port, with no word on whether it will make the switch official.

With more iPhone rumours likely on the way next week, as they always are, this surely won’t be the last time we hear about Apple’s plans for its 2019 mobile device range.
