Rage 2 Collector’s Edition selling in South Africa for R1999

In South Africa it’s not always a guarantee that the large, expensive Collector’s Editions will be available, but Rage 2 does not fall into that category.

Local online retailer Raru has recently made the Collector’s Edition for the game live for pre-order at the price of R1 999 for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

As a reminder of what you’re paying for: you get the game (this isn’t always a given), a poster, steelbook case, and a bevy of DLC including the BFG from Doom.

The big ticket item is “Ruckus the Crusher Talking Head”, which is much like a Big Mouth Billy Bass, but instead of a fish it’s the severed head of a mutant.

This rather ghastly decoration has a motion sensor to set of its talking and singing when you walk in front, and it’s rather large.

The head itself is 8 X 6 X 4.5 inches, and the plaque it’s mounted on is 11.5 X 8 X 6 inches – that’s about 20 X 15 X 11 and 29 X 20 X 15 in centimetres.

This collection sells for $120 overseas, which (at the time of writing) converts directly to R1 658. A R341 increase isn’t that bad given the cost of importing these large items.

The regular game sells for R889 on console from Raru and, at this point, we always have to give the disclaimer that pre-ordering games – Collector’s Edition or not – is usually not a good idea.

Rage 2’s publisher Bethesda recently proved this with the disastrous Fallout 76 and it’s Power Armor Edition. We have a feeling that Rage 2’s Collector’s Edition will not sell out soon, so if you want one we suggest waiting until the game is released to see reviews on both it, and all the extra stuff you get here.

Rage 2 releases on 14th May of this year.
