Second Chance Matric Programme extends registration date to 18th February

Earlier this week the Department of Basic Education announced in a statement that it has extended its deadline for registration for the Second Chance Matric Programme to 18th February 2019.

The extension was due to a request from those students who missed the deadline on 31st January 2019.

According to The Citizen, in a statement, the Department said that those students who still hope to register for the Amended Senior Certificate (ASC) examinations or the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations should visit their nearest education district office before the closing date.

“This opportunity is for those learners who had previously failed their matric, or perhaps only need to write one or two subjects to qualify for their matric. Also learners who want to improve their results are welcome to register as well,” added the Department.

They also noted that there are a number of study resources that are being made available to assist those who wished to take advantage of this opportunity, with the examinations set for May/June of this year.

“We encourage those who are interested to not leave it to the last-minute to apply as the department will not be able to accommodate another extension of the registration period due to logical reason,” concluded the Department.
