Here’s a slice of good news before you kick-off the weekend – it’s likely load shedding won’t take place today.

This is according to Eskom which said on Thursday that its generation performance has improved somewhat. The utility also said that it has made “notable strides” in replenishing water and diesel reserves.

All of this having been said, Eskom hasn’t ruled out the possibility of load shedding on Friday completely.

“The power system however remains tight and vulnerable and while Eskom is making every effort to limit load shedding, it could be implemented at short notice should there be a shift in plant performance,” Eskom said in a power alert on Thursday evening.

To find out as soon as Eskom declares load shedding we recommend following the official Twitter account for the utility as well as the Facebook page.

We’re off to boil the kettle just in case Eskom changes its mind.
