6 Student Career Expos to look forward to in 2019

As we enter the new academic year, we know that pursuing a career takes passion and a lot of hard work. But what if you are still undecided as to which field you would like to follow?

There are organisations that deal specifically with exposing students to different career paths as well as giving them guidance. These organisations have expos around the country aimed at helping out tertiary and high school students to determine who and what they want to be in the future.

Let’s take a look at six different career expos happening around the country that could be beneficial to you in 2019.

Working World Exhibition 2019

This exhibition is designed to empower and position students for the world of work. They provide career guidance programmes, career resources such as experts sharing opportunities, in careers of skills shortage, bursaries and entrepreneur seminars.

This event will happen at the Feather Market Centre, in Port Elizabeth between the 26th and 28th February 2019.

12th Annual Soweto Career Day Expo

The Soweto Career Day Expo will cover a broad spectrum of careers and industries available in South Africa. Learners from Grade 10 to 12 are encouraged to attend as well as the unemployed youth. Both public and private sector delegates will be in attendance to exchange their inputs with students.

The event will occur in Orlando Community Hall, in Soweto from the 1st to 2nd May 2019.

Rising Stars Career Expo

This expo will occur in three different provinces around the country, under the theme “I am an Education Champion”. It is aimed at high school students as well as tertiary students to gain information about career guidance and competitions.

The three provinces are Eastern Cape – 31st May 2019, Gauteng – 26th July 2019 and KwaZulu-Natal – 23rd August 2019. Venues TBC.

SABC Education African Eduweek

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will host a massive education expo, which will have global education suppliers, local and international expert speakers, and government and non-profit organisations.

This event will happen between the 1st to 10th July 2019, in Gauteng province. Venue TBC.

High School Career Expo

In association with the SABC, this expo is designed for both high school and primary school students, and it is aimed at providing more information about public and private schools, their curriculums and admission requirements.

It will be hosted at Forest Hill City, Pretoria between the 26th to 27th July 2019. Entrance is free.

STEM Conference and Career Expo

This expo is dedicated to the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields for students who are interested in STEM careers. The exhibition will teach attendees how to prepare research, how to create a CV, and give you the chance to see exhibitions on STEM.

This is happening at the Ticketpro Dome, Johannesburg between the 10th to 11th May 2019.
