Eskom moves to Stage 4 load shedding

To answer the question you asked rhetorically when you clicked this link – no we are not joking.

Eskom has this afternoon upgraded the load shedding stage to Stage 4 after declaring Stage 2 load shedding earlier this morning.

“Due to continued pressure on the national grid, Eskom will implement Stage 4 load shedding from 13h00 today and is likely to continue until 22h00,” the utility said in a power alert.

Eskom says that since this morning when it declared Stage 2 load shedding it has lost six additional generating units.

Stage 4 load shedding calls for 4000MW to be shed.

Those who are not being load shed are once again urged to use power sparingly.
