Hey kids, wanna hear Detective Pikachu swear?

The ridiculous enigma / collective fever dream that is the Detective Pikachu became a bit more surreal / real (depending on how you look at things) with the release of a second trailer.

Not only do we learn that the Pikachu in this movie has an addiction to caffeine, but he also says the phrase “get me the hell out of here”.

While you can watch the trailer, embedded below, it’s a bit surreal to casually mention some of the bizarre stuff in it. In no particular order: Machamp is tiny, Ludicolo is a nightmare, and Detective Pikachu sets out his clues like Charlie Kelly in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Mewtwo appearing at the end is also a bit of an interesting inclusion, as the famous first Pokémon movie featuring it is being remade. We’re sure the two won’t crossover, but it may be more of a cross promotional sort of thing.

After seeing this second longer piece of content from the movie, it confirms what we thought about the first trailer: this movie looks terrible, but in a good way. These “real” incarnations of beloved and newer Pokémon just look so bizzare that it’s equal parts fascinating and sickening to look at. We’ll be seeing this movie day one, hell, hopefully there’ll be a midnight release.

If this trailer just isn’t enough of the movie for you, fret not because the voice of the eponymous character has uploaded something about it to his YouTube channel. Ryan Reynolds published the video “Becoming Pikachu” which is a spoof on so many behind the scenes features about actors getting into a role. Oh, and his wife Blake Lively appears in it, because why not at this point?
