Infographic: The important parts of the 2019 Budget Speech

Yesterday Minister of Finance, Tito Mboweni, delivered the 2019 budget speech which was packed with details about the immediate future of our country and its finances.

While some of this is higher reaching – such as the financial support the government will give to Eskom – most people are concerned with the changes and news that will affect them.

The speech itself is presented in this video which is around an hour long, or it can be read in a 20 page PDF.

Alternatively, there is a quicker way to make sure you are up to date with the news, and it takes the form of an infographic created by ABSA.

You can view the full thing below, but it summaries the main points of the speech while also offering up some advice for spending. Due to the increase in the fuel levy, for example, it is suggested that you add R2.61 to your budget for every 100 kilometers travelled on 93-octane petrol.

Aside from being faster way to catch up with these details, it also acts a good cheat sheet to save to your PC or phone to look up in the future if you are unsure about any of these details.
