LG V40 ThinQ now available at Vodacom for R12 499

While we’re eagerly awaiting to see what LG has in store for MWC 19 later this month, there is another device that has arrived locally – the V40 ThinQ.

The South Korean company unveiled the device late last year, and have now made it available to purchase at all Vodacom stores for a recommended price tag of R12 499.

You can also purchase the device on a 24-month contract, with it starting at R599 per month. We’ve also seen it listed on Vodacom’s site for a once-off purchase of R9 969, which could be a very good deal given the specifications the phone is sporting.

To that end the V40 ThinQ has a 6.4″ FullVision display (3 120 X 1 440) up front with the cursory screen notch at the top. That portion of the phone is housing a pair of lenses, with an 8MP one taking care of most selfies, and a 5MP wide-angle option.

Flipping the phone over will reveal a trio of lenses, with a 16MP super wide-angle, standard 12MP and 12MP telephoto setup for the primary shooters.

That array of cameras is supported by a range of solid specifications internally. In this regard LG has opted for an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage (with a microSD slot for up to 2TB).

There’s also a 3 300mAh battery that should deliver a full day’s use, but we’re yet to put the V40 ThinQ through its paces to find out if that’s the case.

The V40 ThinQ may not be the newest phone on the market, but if the sub-R10k price tag remains a fixture, it could certainly be a good option for savvy consumers out there.
