Twitter already flooded with memes & fan art of the new Pokémon games

If you ever had any doubt about how fast the internet can move, you just need to check any social media platform following the announcement of the new Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games.

One site that seems to represent this best is Twitter, which has filled up with jokes, fan art and more centred around the games, all of it based on just two minutes worth of trailer.

Everything the internet is producing seems to fall into two categories: British culture injected into the Pokémon world (because the new region seems to be based on Britain), and the three new starters.

People have specifically latched onto Sobble the water-type starter, and its meek nature, but all three have been endlessly fawned upon.

To show all of this off, we’ve embedded a load of tweets below which exemplify all of this. We’ve tried our best to include the original creators of these images and jokes but, if we made a mistake, please let us know.

On that note proper credit must be given to the artist of the header image – @Sir5000 on Twitter. The “Pokémon Gun” spoof logo has been doing the rounds but, unfortunately, the artists used an incorrect watermark on it, making it very difficult to track down. Make sure you give the original some love.

As you’re looking at all of this just keep this in mind: it’s been less than 24 hours since the announcement of the new games.

If what’s embedded below just isn’t enough for you, make sure you lurk the #PokemonSwordShield hashtag, which is becoming funnier and more degenerate with every passing minute.
