Africa’s second official LEGO Store to open in Menlyn Park, Pretoria

Last year local fans of LEGO rejoiced in the fact that an official LEGO Store had opened in Sandton, and now it’s happening again, this time at Menlyn Park shopping centre in Pretoria.

This information comes from the newsletter sent out to subscribers, and appears right at the bottom as a bit of an afterthought. You can see it here with very few details.

We’ve spoken to the representatives for the company and have been told that more details will be coming out in the near future, so check back here at a later stage for more.

For those out there who think this is just another toy store, albeit focused on bricks, it’s a bit more than that.

Official LEGO Stores have brought a lot of previously exclusive products into the country that fans have, in the past, had to import on their own dime.

A great example is a set that’s being given away right now on large purchases. 40334: Avengers Tower is a rather large free set that you can only get from official stores, and South Africans have been missing out on items like that in the past.

On top of this they also have free monthly giveaways with no purchase required, and a Pick A Brick wall where you can buy individual pieces, also not easy to get in the country before now.

The opening of this second store is just another confirmation about the popularity of LEGO in the country, and it’s a huge boon for the local community.

If you don’t live anywhere close to Sandton or Pretoria, all of their products are available online too.

If you’ve never been to a LEGO Store before, see how gallery of the Sandton opening. As the general look and layout of these stores are standardised around the world, this will give you a clear idea of what the Menlyn Park version will look like.
