What’s coming to Netflix SA in May

The calendar has rolled over and that means that there is some new content headed to Netflix.

With Winter approaching rapidly (in Johannesburg at least) we can think of no better way to spend May than wrapped up on the couch with some high quality programming to keep you occupied.

This month sees a number of films we’ve been hoping to see hit the streaming service along with a few new seasons of popular series.

Later this week on 3rd May, Jordan Peele’s directorial debut Get Out lands on Netflix. The film earned Peele an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and if you haven’t seen it yet, you can this month.

Sticking with films, Disney’s 2017 remake of Beauty and the Beast lands on Netflix on 24th May and if you’re a Disney fan you might want to watch it before it gets gobbled up by Disney+.

Other licensed titles heading to Netflix this month include:

  • Robin Hood The Rebellion – 1st May
  • Gotham: Season 4 – 1st May
  • Schitt’s Creek: Season – 5 10th May
  • Spartacus – 16th May
  • Battleship – 16th May
  • Grown Ups 2 – 31st May

Then, for fans of documentaries there is an absolute cracker landing on Netflix on 10th May. ReMastered: The Lion’s Share, tells the story of how local journalist Rian Malan went in search of the original writer of The Lion Sleeps Tonight. This looks like a great watch.

For those that became obsessed with Ted Bundy earlier this year, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile presents the life of Ted Bundy from the eyes of his girlfriend Liz.

Finally, to round out our list fans of politically charged comedy will be happy to hear that Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj returns for a third season on 12th May.

It’s worth remembering that Netflix offers up a free one month trial and if you haven’t used it yet, now might be the perfect time to give Netflix a test.
