Dell launches new 2-in-1 XPS 13 notebook for 2019

If you follow the consumer tech event calendar, you’re likely aware that Computex 2019 is currently underway in Taipei. Many manufacturers have already showcased their latest wares, but joining the action today is Dell, with the company revealing an updated version of its XPS 13 2-in-1 notebook for 2019.

The new model is sporting improvements across the board, with Del claiming a thinner and lighter body, as well as double the performance compared to its predecessor.

So what’s the 2019 XPS 13 2-in-1 sporting?

Up front the display is available in up to a 4K UHD+ (3840×2400) screen resolution, which is said to be 7 percent larger than the previous generation, with the company’s trademark InfinityEdge (edge to edge) design.

As for the performance side of things, depending on which internal setup you opt for, the 2019 Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 features up to a 10th Gen Intel Core processor which is said to yield a performance increase of 2.5 times, all while encased in an 8 percent smaller for factor.

In terms of battery life, Dell has also made improvements, with up to 16 hours coming from the XPS 13 2-in-1, under certain usage conditions, however. When the notebook arrives in South Africa in August this year, it should be interesting to see if the same 16 hour mark can be hit under heavy use and multitasking.

Like much of the hardware unveiled at Computex this week, we don’t know how much the XPS 13 2-in-1 will cost when it lands in SA, but Stateside the device starts at $999.99 (~R14 852).
