The Surge 2 pre-orders open revealing September release date

The Surge 2 – a sequel to the 2017 Soulslike with an industrial sci-fi theme – will release later this year, and you can part with your money for it right now if you wish.

Various official outlets, such as the Major Nelson site, have seemingly confirmed a 23rd / 24th September release date depending on your time zone.

As for pre-orders you can do so now on PC (Steam) and Xbox One. As far as we can tell there isn’t a store page for the PlayStation 4 as of yet.

As for pricing only Xbox has a local one for us at R749. We expect a similar (or slightly higher) price on PlayStation and a lower price on PC, as always.

Poking around these store pages it looks like more of the same from the first game. If you’re unfamiliar with the franchise see our review of the original game. TL;DR The Surge was a fantastic take on the formula FromSoftware created but had many smaller issues and a lacklustre end game that kind of petered out. We can only hope this new game fixes those issues.

We’ve seen very little of The Surge 2 so far with just a handful of screenshots existing on those store pages.

Back in May we did learn that there was an open beta call to test out earlier builds of the game, bit it was open to just 50 people and we haven’t heard much of anything from that endeavour since.

With E3 coming up soon we’re sure to find out more.
