Microsoft’s new gaming controller is the Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2

Microsoft has already shown off a new console in the form of Project Scarlett, but for those in the market for a new controller the company debuted their Xbox Elite Wireless Series 2.

Anyone who remembers the first Elite Controller knows that it was a great offering based on its customisability and premium design. With the Series 2, it looks like Microsoft has taken those elements and gone a step further.

To that end they say it has been re-engineered from the inside out, with Microsoft also christening it the world’s most advanced controller. While we’ll have to take their word for it, on paper the Xbox Elite Series 2 is boasting an impressive 40 hours worth of wireless battery life from a single full charge.

Some of the improvements over the previous iteration include the ability to adjust the tension of the thumbsticks, as well as a newly designed bumper and trigger. Gamers can also setup custom profiles for unique button layouts depending on the game you’re playing. It’s also compatible with both Xbox One and Windows 10 devices, connecting via Bluetooth.

If all of that sounds good to you, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 (we still haven’t thought of a good short handle), is currently up for pre-order Stateside.

It’s set for release on 4th November, costing a recommended $180 (~R2 690), but no word yet on when South Africa will get it, or indeed how much it will cost.
