Dr. Mario World launching in July for iOS and Android

Everyone’s favourite plumber is changing up his profession and putting his medical qualifications to work, with Dr. Mario World set to land on iOS and Android on 10th July.

The mobile game was announced a few months ago, with a trailer landing online for the title showcasing some of the gameplay elements, as well as confirming its impending release date.

Nintendo, who team up with messaging service developer Line for the game, also note that pre-registrations for Dr. Mario World are now open on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

For those hoping for classic Mario-style action as seen in the Run mobile game of a couple of years ago, this new offering is more akin to Tetris, with players being able to drag capsules of medicine into the playing field in order to “kill” the germs that infect the game.

At this stage there is no pricing listed for Dr. Mario World on either the App Store or Play Store, but it’s important to note that microtransactions will play a part in this title, as access to diamonds in-game will cost you $2 for a pack of 20, and up to $70 for 1050 diamonds, according to GameSpot.

Mario isn’t the only Doctor on call, with Dr. Peach, Dr. Yoshi and Dr. Toad, being added to the mix. It’s unclear though if they too will only be available with microtransactions, but we’re guessing yes.

Hit play on the trailer below to see if Dr. Mario World will be a decent time killer on mobile.
