Friends will soon be an exclusive streaming offering on HBO Max

It seems like everyone has a streaming service, or at the very least is working on one. Leading the charge as far as streaming services go is Netflix, with shows like Friends helping to garner the platform plenty of users, but will soon end as the company’s license to stream the wildly popular series will end of the beginning of 2020.

So what will be the new home for Friends?

It looks like it will be an exclusive title on the soon to be launched HBO Max from AT&T’s Warner Media. The company confirmed in a press release some of its plans for HBO Max, with the streaming service set to play host to much of the content that Warner and HBO has created over the years.

Joining Friends, which will be an exclusive at launch, will be shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Pretty Little Liars, along with upcoming content from the company’s CW studio in the form of Batwoman and the Riverdale spin-off Katy Keene. There’s also an Anna Kendrik-led series on the way, as well as the Denis Villeneuve-produced Dune: Sisterhood TV series.

In total AT&T anticipates more than 10 000 hours worth of content on the HBO Max platform when it launches in Spring (Stateside) of 2020. For now no mention has been made regarding pricing or availability, but it is believed that HBO Max could cost a little bit more than the current $14.99 for its GO streaming service.

With so many subscription services popping up on the TV and gaming fronts of late, it looks like consumers are going to be racking large bills in order to stay in-touch with their favourite content, especially if it happens to be Friends.
