Use allergies to beat levels in the new platformer Hayfever

If you’ve ever sneezed so hard that it feels like your soul left your body and you rose several feet into the air? If so a recently announced platformer called Hayfever may be for you.

In Hayfever you play as Thomas, a mailman with a large red nose and allergies strong enough to propel him like a rocket when he sneezes, which is how he navigates the 140 levels promised for this game.

A short announcement trailer for the game was uploaded a few hours ago and shows off just a select few stages of the title. It looks like Thomas will need to collect pieces of scattered mail as he goes along, together with clouds of (what we assume is) pollen to continue sneezing through the world.

Hayfever has an expected release window in the first quarter of 2020 and will arrive on PC and all three of the big consoles – Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

There’s no store page up to wishlist the title but the official website has a mailing list you can join, as well as some smaller details like the confirmation of four unique worlds each with bosses.

Each of these worlds are based on the four seasons. We have to wonder if Spring will be the final and most difficult world due to all the flowers blooming, or it will be the easiest as there will be more opportunities to collect pollen.

We know that platformers with retro aesthetics are common nowadays, but we have a soft spot for game jam titles which are fleshed out into full games, as Hayfever is. We also assume that this game is going to get more than a few sales based off of people being irritated by their allergies and wanting to see them used for something useful for once.
