Flagship iStore to open in Canal Walk next month as part of nationwide revamp

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to head to an iStore, there may be added incentive as countrywide a revamp of all locations is being planned starting with a new flagship location at iStore in Canal Walk.

The new flagship retail spot is part of a wider plan that will include larger locations, new designed interiors and a greater range of training and workshops coming to South Africa’s 22 iStores, the company confirmed in a press release sent to Hypertext.

“iStore has always been the ultimate destination to get the full experience of everything Apple and we are taking this to the next level with our flagship stores,” notes Chris Dodd, CEO of iStore.

The greater space and enhanced design not only looks incredible, but allows us to enhance our product offering, host exciting events and workshops, and provide the convenience of a while-you-wait repair centre,” he adds.

To that end iStore Canal Walk is going to be three times larger than the previous location when it opens on 17th August, with the increased real estate offering up a space for consumers to relax, along with viewing and experiencing new products, as well as having dedicated areas for training, technical support and setup.

Speaking of the workshops, iStore is planning on having experts being brought in to train consumers creating music, art, design, video coding and photography with their Apple device.

As for the aforementioned while-you-wait repair centre, it will handle authorised iPhone screen and battery replacements, as well as other associated iPhone repairs, time permitting of course.

On the opening weekend, 17th and 18th August, iStore Canal Walk will also have some deals on offer, with the 12″ MacBook (1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core M3, 256GB) going for R17 999. On mobile the iPhone XR (128GB) will cost R14 999, with the Apple Watch Series 4 (40mm silver aluminium case) retailing at R5 999.

iStore is also planning live music and creator sessions over the opening weekend, so it’s well worth checking out if you need new Apple tech, or simply want to see what the new location looks like.
