Some 2018 MacBook Air notebooks suffering from logic board problems

In the wake of Sir Jony Ive’s departure from Apple, this latest bit of news about the 2018 MacBook Air points again to how standards appear to be dropping at the Cupertino-based firm.

More specifically “a very small number” of 2018 MacBook Air notebooks are suffering from faulty logic boards. It seems like a lot of hardware are suffering from manufacturing faults, with the 2015 MacBook Pro’s battery potentially catching alight and warranting a free replacement.

Now the recently unveiled MacBook Airs are suffering from power issues resulting from the aforementioned faulty logic boards, according to 9to5Mac, which is a reputable source on such matters. The site says that several customers have complained about their notebooks not powering on as a result, with the issue specifically affecting the 13″ model.

For now no official statement has been issued by Apple, but 9to5Mac says that customers affected by the problem will reportedly be emailed to take their device to their nearest repair centre, should they flag an issue with the firm.

They also add that a free replacement for the logic board will apply for four years, but again, there is no official confirmation of this from Apple.

With a number of devices suffering from issues following their entry into the market, it looks like Apple has to take a more stringent approach when it comes to manufacturing.
