Overland is finally out next month

Overland is a turn-based survival game that we seem to have been seeing glimpses of on social media for years now, and we’ll finally be able to play it come 19th September.

This news comes by way of a launch trailer (embedded below) where you can see the main hook of the game: a road trip across the USA accompanied by a chunky art style, a friendly canine companion and a unique level system where you see one square of the map at a time.

As you may have picked up on in the trailer sound plays a big part here as it attracts the monsters looking to kill you and your little pack of survivors.

Your vehicle, and keeping it topped up with fuel, also seems to be near the top of the priority list in this game. With the road trip aspect being advertised so heavily, it seems that stopping at any point is a death sentence here.

Love it or hate it random generation is present in this game with “every level, roadmap, and character” being different during each attempted trip.

On 19th September Overland will be available on PC (Steam and itcho.io), PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

The developers here are Finji, who are probably best known for publishing Night in the Woods and Panoramical.
