Local pricing for the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro will make you wince

Last week Apple announced its latest slew of devices during a rather lacklustre presentation.

While the Cupertino firm did announce US pricing for the handsets, South Africans have been left in the dark as to how much the new handsets will cost until today.

MyiStore has detailed pricing for the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. The devices are all available for pre-order right now but you may want to take a gander at the pricing first.

The iPhone 11 64GB is set to retail for R14 999 which is just slightly (R1 000) more affordable than the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.

Local pricing for all the forthcoming handsets from Apple are listed below.

Handset Price
iPhone 11 64GB R14 999
iPhone 11 128GB R16 999
iPhone 11 256GB R18 999
iPhone 11 Pro 64GB R21 999
iPhone 11 Pro 256GB R25 999
iPhone 11 Pro 512GB R29 999
iPhone 11 Pro Max 64GB R23 999
iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB R28 499
iPhone 11 Pro Max 512GB R32 999

Anyway you slice this, that is a lot of money. While we drew a comparison to the Galaxy Note 10 in terms of pricing, we should point out that Samsung does give you 256GB of storage for R15 999 while Apple charges R3 000 more for the same storage capacity.

Both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro sport Apple’s latest A13 Bionic chipset and upgraded camera tech. The iPhone 11 Pro is the first Apple iPhone to sport a trio of lenses.

There’s no word yet on the release date of the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro from MyiStore but Takealot is advertising the handsets with a promised delivery date of 27th September.

With those prices, it may just be worthwhile trading your old iPhone in to get a bit of a discount.
