Apple reveals iPhone 11 in six different colours with dual rear camera

After a few months of build up, the iPhone 11 was officially unveiled by Apple earlier this evening. Prior to the event the firm issued invites with a colourful version of the Apple logo, potentially hinting at some of the design elements for the iPhone 11.

As it turns out, it was a hint, with Apple revealing six colour options for the iPhone 11 – purple, green, yellow, black, white and PRODUCT(RED).

Up front things look the same for the most part, with a screen notch touting display, but on the rear the big change is the camera array, with a dual 12MP lens setup present. One is wide-angle and the other is ultra-wide, and the selfie camera too is 12MP.

The new camera system is capable of shooting 4K video at 60fps, with the selfie one featuring the same functionality. There is also a new slow-mo shooting mode called a “slofie”, but we’re not sure that is going to take off the way that Apple may be hoping.

To pair with the camera array Apple has also introduced a new chipset in the form of the A13 Bionic, which it says is the fastest processor and graphics offering it has placed in a smartphone to date, with a 20 percent improvement compared to the A12 chipset.

Shifting back to the display a 6.1″ Liquid Retina screen is found, along with the iPhone 11 featuring an IP68-rated level of waterproofness that’s good for up to 30 minutes at a depth of two metres.

We’re yet to get a local release date for the iPhone 11, or indeed how much it will cost and which of the six colour options will be landing in SA, but there is information for the US. To that end pre-orders for the iPhone 11 start on 13th September, with them shipping on the 20th.

In terms of price the 64GB model will cost $699, with a 128GB and 256GB variant also available, but no pricing is listed for either of those.
