Riot Games details new titles that build on League of Legends

We’ve always joked that, despite its name, Riot Games has only ever made one game – that being League of Legends (LoL).

That joke has died a rather epic death given that Riot Games detailed a slew of new games during a livestream celebrating League of Legends’ 10th anniversary.

There is a lot to get through so we’ll just be looking at the crux of the games rather than diving into detail.

Legends of Runeterra is a card game that will seemingly strive and not meet the same fate Valve’s Artifact did. The game will apparently be more accessible than Hearthstone and cards can be purchased for real money or in-game currency earned by playing. You can check out Legends of Runterra in action in the video below.

Next up is Riot’s fighting game known only as Project L. The game is – like the others – set in the LoL universe and will feature fighters from the game. A release date was not been revealed but you can see early stage development here.

Sick of Runeterra and LoL? Well Riot has something else up its sleeve in Project A.

This game is being billed as a tactical first person shooter. From what we saw during the stream it looks to be a mix of Overwatch, CS:GO and – dare we say – Rainbow Six Siege. There is a strong emphasis on abilities and tactics and it looks like it could be fun.

Project A is not set in the LoL universe but a “near future Earth”. The project is still in early development so don’t expect a release soon.

Next up is one we missed during the stream but thanks to PC Gamer we’re now aware that Riot also plans to create a management simulator. Players will be able to manage a digital LoL esports team much like football managers let you manage a digital team. There is no name for the game as yet but it’s expected to be released in 2020.

Finally, Riot Games has said that mobile versions of LoL and Team Fight Tactics will be released though in terms of mobile LoL things are different.

Wild Rift is a MOBA that has been reimagined for consoles and mobile phones. Matches will be shorter but we’re told the experience will be comparable to the PC version of the game.

Wait, we lied, there is one more thing – Arcane. This animated series will be set in the LoL universe and should hopefully help to bring LoL’s lore (which is rather incredible) before more people.

You can watch the first trailer for Arcane below.
