When, where and what – How to stream the Made by Google 2019 conference

With – hang on we need to check the list – Apple, Samsung and Huawei all having announced new smartphones, it’s now Google’s turn.

While Google’s devices are infamously not available in South Africa, we are ever hopeful that one day we will see a Pixel smartphone on our shelves.

Lustful daydreams of tech aside, Google will be announcing a few new products at its yearly Made by Google event which takes place at 16:00CAT in New York City.

Thankfully through the power of the internet we don’t need to be in New York as Google will be livestreaming the event on YouTube. A embed has been provided below but you can also head to the YouTube website here to set a reminder.

Among the devices set to be unveiled is the Pixel 4, though unveiled is the wrong word here. We say this because the phone has been the subject of so many leaks we’re surprised it’s not just available right now.

Over on The Verge you can find an exhaustive list of leaks including a spec sheet that details the Pixel 4.

There will be two iterations of the Pixel 4 with one being the larger Pixel 4 XL.

Both handsets will reportedly run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 SoC along with the Pixel Neural Core which is likely to do the heavy lifting when it comes to AI processes.

The cooler feature however is Motion Sense which from the video below appears to be a way to control certain apps using gestures that can be seen by the front facing camera.

Google may also announce some new products at the event. The Google Home Hub may be getting a refresh as should the Google Home Mini.

We’re sure there will also be a number of software updates for Google Assistant as well as Google Duplex.

We’re also going to throw a Hail Mary and suggest Google will launch a streaming service similar to Apple TV+. Hell, if Disney and Apple can do it, what’s stopping Google?

As we mentioned Made by Google 2019 kicks off at 16:00CAT later today.
