With Loot Crate under new ownership, you can opt out of sharing personal info

Earlier this year Loot Crate – the company famous for popularising subscription boxes – filed bankruptcy. While its future was uncertain, it has now been purchased by a sister company of NECA, and Loot Crate has been rebranded to “The Loot Company”.

For those who don’t really care about the business side of things, it’s worth bringing this up when it comes to the personal information you may have shared with Loot Crate in the past.

A recent newsletter sent out by the company states that, because of the new ownership, those who shared information in the past can now opt out of the new Loot Company using it.

The newsletter reiterates that the information will be “permanently deleted” and The Loot Company will not use it.

Two methods of opting out have been provided:

  1. Sending an e-mail to The Loot Company at optoutinfotransfer@lootcrate.com with the information necessary for The Loot Company to identify you in its database and process your opt-out election (such as your name and email address); or
  2. Mailing to the following address (and including the information necessary for The Loot Company to identify you in its database and process your opt-out election, such as your name and email address):

The Loot Company
c/o Cooley LLP
Attn: Cathy Hershcopf and Sarah Carnes
55 Hudson Yards
New York, New York 10001

While we always appreciate being able to restrict who does what with our personal information, this “offer” comes with a deadline of 21st October of this year. All requests for the deletion of information must be received before then.
