1MORE Stylish True Wireless In Ear review – Great sound from a tiny package

There are many ways I could introduce the 1MORE Stylish Tru Wireless in-ear monitors (IEMs) but the best way to do that is to start by saying it is an exceptional product.

Despite the name being somewhat new in South Africa, 1MORE has a global presence and has won itself many awards for its products, all of which are audio related.

1MORE’s real claim to fame, however, is that many of its products, these wireless IEMs included, are tuned by Luca Bignardi. Who is he? Well he has won Grammy and Latin Grammy awards but he didn’t produce the latest top 40 hit.

What this man and 1MORE do seem to know however is sound because I would quite comfortable ditch my wired cans for these IEMs.

A place for everything

As these are Bluetooth IEMs, each earpiece houses a 55mAh battery which gave me just over five hours of listening time. While 1MORE does state that you can squeeze six and a half hours from the IEMs, that is running at 50 percent volume and my listening volume was well above that limit. Still, five hours is a good run.

Charging the IEMs back up to full takes a little over an hour but you are able to get three hours of life from a short 15 minute charge.

The IEMs slip snuggly into the carrying case and together you can expect 24 hours of total playtime with there being pauses for charging of course.

All in all the battery life of these IEMs is decent and a microUSB port will serve as your charging source which is nice as those are still common.

The 1MORE Stylish also ships with a variety of “O-Hooks” and earbuds which allow you to mix or match to find a fit for you as well as a nice thick charging cable. The O-Hooks can be removed if you prefer but I found they helped nestle the buds into my ear and it felt a lot more secure.

The O-Hooks help secure the IEMs but only very slightly.

Unfortunately the 1MORE earbuds don’t really stay in your ear while your head is moving.

While headbanging to some particularly heavy metal, the buds quickly lost that secure feeling and then fell out. Thankfully the earbuds are quite hardy but the fact they can fall out so easily is a bit of a concern.

How do they sound?

Balance is incredibly important in sound. Lean too much on the low end and your sound is muddy, lean too much on the high-end and your sound comes across as shrill.

1MORE appears to have struck a wonderful balance which had me feeling the bass in my gut but still able to make out the finer points of the music I was listening to.

The IEMs switch off and start charging the moment they snap into the carry case.

The manufacturer uses a 7nm dynamic driver that uses a titanium composite diaphragm. This means, that these IEMs can react incredibly quickly to changes in whatever you are listening to. Ultimately this makes for what I can only describe as the cleanest listening experience I’ve had in a long time. Every closed hi-hat stops when it’s meant to, every bass reverb goes on for as long as it was intended to and it just makes for such an incredible experience.

While the driver and diaphragm play a role in 1MORE ’s success, there is another bit of magic at play here.

That magic is technology.

The 1MORE ’s make use of Qualcomm’s AptX HD algorithm which compresses and then decompresses audio as it travels from your device to your headphones or IEMs insuring you have the best audio quality.

Support for Bluetooth 5.0 means that latency is lowered but you can still make use of these IEMs on tech using older Bluetooth versions. Bluetooth range caps out at around 12 metres at a stretch but audio quality does suffer.

As a whole 1MORE has done a fantastic job on the sound profile of these IEMs.

As for the microphone, it’s okay. The quality is similar to the audio you’d get from speaking into your car’s Bluetooth system which is neither good nor bad, it’s just okay.

The microphone works though and folks will be able to hear you clearly, just don’t expect studio quality audio from the microphone.

True wireless?

One of the important things Bluetooth IEMs really have to do is give me the ability to make/pickup/deny calls or skip tracks without touching my smartphone. Thankfully 1More is sorted in that regard.

One each earpiece there is one physical button.

The button on the left can be used to answer (single push) or decline calls (hold) or call your smart assistant (double click with no music playing) to answer your needs or do an errand.

Music playback is handled by the right earpiece. You are able to pause (click, and click to unpause) and skip tracks backward (double click) and forward (triple click).

To switch off the IEMs simple long hold both buttons at the same time though they will power off when placed in the carry case.

The one feature I would have liked is volume control but I’m okay with touching one button on my handset for that purpose.

The only wire you’ll need is for charging.

Should you get them?

There is no need for me to get Bluetooth sound equipment and yet, I am dreading the day I have to send these IEMs back to 1MORE.

Not only are they good, they’re incredibly easy to use and they will power your music and communication needs for most of the day – only stopping to get charged up.

The 1MORE ‘s retail for R1 799 though if you look around you can pick them up for less. We’ll definitely be on the look out for specials come Black Friday later this month.

My only major criticism of these IEMs is that they fall out rather easily when you are moving your head quickly. That means if you’re going to be running you will end up fussing with the earpieces as you try and get them to stay in your ear.

For those looking for a wireless audio solution for the office or while you’re pottering about the house doing chores however, the 1MORE’s are great.

Disclaimer: The 1MORE True Stylish In-Ears were sent to us for review by Syntech. The device will be returned.
