Tesla to reveal its electric “Cybertruck” on 21st November

It’s been some time since we last heard from Tesla regarding its electric pickup truck. Well Elon Musk provided a significant update, via his platform of choice Twitter earlier this week, noting that the Cybertruck (as he calls it) will be revealed on 21st November.

The Tesla CEO followed up that tweet, pasted below, by adding that the Cybertruck will look like something out of Blade Runner. What that means precisely is unclear, but we’re fairly confident the latest latest EV from Tesla will not be flying.

What has been rumoured though is that the Cybertruck will feature a performance that rivals that of a Porsche sports car, while also featuring better utility than the wildly popular Ford F-150 pickup truck which is the go-to choice for many fans of these kinds of cars Stateside.

As such it will be interesting to see whether the pickup truck crowd in the States warms to the idea of an electric vehicle, as the key demographic for the Cybertruck differs greatly from those who have purchased Tesla’s past EVs.

As for some other officially unconfirmed details about the upcoming vehicle, Musk has touted a price tag of around $50 000, as well as the Cybertruck being able to seat six people and boast a driving range of between 643 to 804 kilometres from a fully charged engine.

There are also a few different engine model options on the cards, with the range topping version reportedly featuring a dual-motor setup and a towing capacity of 136 000 kilograms.

We won’t have to wait long to see whether the Cybertruck lives up to the Blade Runner billing that Musk has mentioned, and indeed what kind of performance it will be touting, with the reveal happening in two weeks at the CEO’s SpaceX rocket manufacturing facility in Los Angeles.

While we wait for more official information it’s worth mentioning “Truckla”, a Tesla pickup that was created by maker Simone Giertz by chopping up a brand new Model 3. Giertz stated that she undertook this project as she was tired of waiting for Musk to reveal the real Tesla pickup.
