dotAfrica, dotJoburg and other gTLDs go on sale for R15 in February

Looking to give your website a bit of local flavour in 2020? Well Registry Africa has an offer that may be hard to pass on.

In February the Asante Sana promotion kicks off and folks will be able to purchase a geographic top level domain (gTLD) for as little as R15, excluding VAT.

The promotion is being handled by Registry Africa, a subsidiary of ZA Central Registry. Domains can be purchased from ICANN accredited ISPs participating in the promotion. Those registrars can be found at this website.

The domains available include dotAfrica, dotJoburg, dotCapeTown, and dotDurban.

“We want people to look beyond simply having a digital presence in the form of one-dimensional social media platforms. As Africans, let’s build multilayered digital identities for ourselves that pivot on .africa, our own hard-won corner of cyberspace,” chief executive officer at Registry Africa, Lucky Masilela, said in a statement.

“While our February 2020 promotion is aimed at thanking our retail partners for their sterling work in helping RA to grow the African domain name ecosystem, the individual domain name registrant should be the real winner next month and we urge our RaR partners to pass on their expected savings to the end user,” the CEO added.

We’re hoping to see local gTLDs following this sale.
