The africast continues in 2020 with a CES recap to go over our favourite parts from the event which wrapped up last week.

Before we get to the meat of the event, let’s cover some news. First up is image sharing site Imgur which held a vote for meme of the decade, then we go over leaks for new devices from Samsung and Huawei, and then we end on the possible end of charging port disparity.

For the CES coverage, let’s start with the Alienware UFO – a portable Windows 10 gaming machine that borrows heavily from the Nintendo Switch design. With the Switch making many fall in love with mobile gaming again, the UFO has a solid shot to take the concept and bring many more games (and more power) to the table.

Next is AMD who is making some big waves in the CPU department. Team Red may finally be catching up with its competitor Intel in the mobile CPU market and the next laptop you buy may have AMD Inside™ instead.

Finally we get even weirder than the UFO as we look at the most baffling new tech to come from CES. The most absurd is likely the “Smart Potato” which is currently being crowdfunded and features some garish backer rewards, such as the T-shirt in the header image above.

As always links to everything we spoke about, with more information, can be found below.
